As Always, Spring

I love spring,
how she yawns and stretches,
quiet confidence;
instinct melded with a trust
that says it’s okay to go.
She was almost fooled
a couple of times this year,
but not enough to daunt
or throw off course.

And now look at those shoots;
delicate still, a little pale, but
granite firm and ready.
They have work to do,
an audience to captivate,
starring roles to support.
And as always, will succeed;
why would this year be any different?

    Hurry! Funny how nature does that. The evidence is before our eyes and we’re so bleary eyed from the long winter and can hardly believe it’s coming, but always does. 🙂

      Thank you Jane!

      It does always come, and I am so enjoying watching it emerge, despite all the knockbacks it seems to encounter each year!

      Lots of teapotty love to you

    Lovely, and full of that warmth you manage to inject into everything. I’m a huge fan of spring myself, and start searching for the first sign of budding on bushes far earlier than is sensible.

      Thank you Peter!

      Yes, I think many of us become impatient for spring to arrive after the long haul of winter.

      And I do exactly what you do!!! 🙂 Sensible isn’t really my thing!

    What a wonderful uplifting poem to remind us that the world goes on.
    Whether we choose to engage with it or not is of course down to us!! 🙂

    There is so much happening just within your garden and it does us the power of good to pause along the way and smell the flowers 🙂

    I am in a better place for having read this poem 🙂

    With much love

      Thank you very much David!

      “To pause along the way and smell the flowers” is, as you know, something I do such a lot these days. You also know that I never used to stop and look at anything much many years ago, its all about change isn’t it and then choice.

      I have been getting impatient for these little green shoots. Im sure they smiled at me when I took this photograph this morning! 🙂

      With much love to you too

    Indeed, why would this year be any different. There’s so much change in the world – but the snowdrops will come, and they will be followed by the daffodils…

    Your poem reflects the resilience of nature very beautifully. Amidst all the predictability, there is that element of surprise always, but nothing daunts nature, as you articulate so well.

    Oh, this is so very lovely, Christine! It is so lyrical and animated (‘I love spring,
    how she yawns and stretches …’) and delicately formed – just like the season it honors. And perhaps its magic will have me wake up to a new season, too. It has been snowing every day, and is still frigid. But any day, any day … Bless you … like spring you have a wonderful spirit of hope and promise, despite all obstacles. Love ya! Diane XO ♥

      Diane, thank you so much. Your comments are always soencouraging. I know I have said that before, but they truly are and I do so appreciate them.

      I was actually able to sit in the sun with a cup of coffee last week and I spied the little green shoots. I just had to take a photo of them, and thought, “there’s a poem in those green shoots”!

      It’s not time to become too confident though! It can now here at any time. But I am enjoying the first signs of a seasonal change.

      Love ya too!! ❤ Xxx
