I have been here on WP since August 2011,and during that time have read some wonderful blogs and made many new friends! Thank you to all of you for your encouraging words which have helped me to keep going with my poetry, especially during the times when the bin has been overflowing!! It is a joy to be here and I am learning more every day.
One thing I have now started to take an interest in is poetry form. I still know nothing bout most of these. But a very good friend on here posts quite a few acrostics, which fascinate me. So as it’s Christmas and I haven’t got a seasonal poem to post I thought I would have a go at a simple one and run it by you all to see what you think. Please tell me if I have got it wrong or if it’s rubbish!! I can take it!!!!
I am including a picture of a flower from my garden, not because it has anything to do with the poem but because these few words look lonely by themselves and also it is a chance for me to pick your brains! This flower which was photographed by me in the summer, has been a puzzle to me and many friends. We thought at first Magnolia but I don’t think it is. Then Jasmine was suggested, I have no idea!! What do you think?

I’ve not done this type of poetry and I haven’t read that much of it either, but this looks very good to me, and conveys a wonderful place to be! It’s a place I’d like to be in more often! 🙂
Your photograph of the flower is really beautiful – a lovely thing to look at on a frosty trying to snow day! But I have no idea what it is though! I love flowers, but I’m not into gardening and plants etc, so not much help there afraid!

Its so easy to write about acceptance, and so difficult to practice it. I am in the throes of an argument with it right now and I am fully aware this only creates more suffering for me. I guess its all part of the process of healing and also part of being human. I have a long, long way to go with all this.

Very well done…perfectly, Christine. A very meaningful topic too. I’ve done a few of these myself…one just a few days ago. There’s a few different varieties of magnolias. Is it on a large tree? Since your flower looks “frilly” and more delicate than some…it could be a Japanese Magnolia.

I was not familar with that style of poetry, so I had some difficulty getting my head round it. I admire your willingness to “have a go” and try out new and different styles. As for thr flower. It looks very nice, and thats all I know about it

I love this Christine. I can feel the letting go creating the opening to allow something more nourishing and comforting to take over. It’s sort of like the idea of being reborn.
To me, it feels like the flower does have something to do with the poem – the dead wood no longer being supported, thus creating an environment for the flower to bloom. Really cool poem. 🙂
